        What is Win Loss Ratio?

The win/loss ratio divides total wins by total losses to produce a simple performance metric. A ratio of 2.0 means you win twice for every time you lose. The win rate percentage (wins ÷ total games × 100) provides an alternative view: a 2:1 ratio corresponds to a 66.7% win rate. Both metrics are widely used in sports, trading, gaming, sales, and any competitive endeavor to measure and track performance.

Understanding your win/loss ratio in context is essential. In sports, the ratio varies dramatically by competition level — a 3:1 ratio in recreational play may equal a 1:1 ratio in professional competition. In trading, the win/loss ratio must be evaluated alongside the average win size versus average loss size (risk-reward ratio). A 40% win rate can still be profitable if average wins are significantly larger than average losses.

        Formula & Persamaan Yang Digunakan

        1 Win Loss Ratio ▼
        W/L Ratio = Wins / Losses

        45 wins and 30 losses: W/L = 45/30 = 1.50:1.

        2 Win Rate Percentage ▼
        Win Rate = (Wins / Total Games) × 100

        45 wins in 75 games: Win Rate = (45/75) × 100 = 60%.

        3 Profit Factor (Trading) ▼
Profit Factor = (Wins × Avg Win) / (Losses × Avg Loss)

        30 wins × $500 avg / 20 losses × $400 avg = $15,000/$8,000 = 1.875.

        Contoh Masalah & Penyelesaian Langkah-demi-Langkah

Input 1 Team record: 42 wins, 28 losses
        1 Win/Loss Ratio = Wins ÷ Losses = 42 ÷ 28 = 1.50 : 1.
        2 Total games played = 42 + 28 = 70 games.
        3 Win Percentage = (42 ÷ 70) × 100% = 60.0%.
        ✓ Win/Loss Ratio is 1.50 (Win Rate = 60.0%)
        Input 2 Trading: 55 wins ($200 avg), 45 losses ($150 avg)
        1 Win rate = 55% (P_win = 0.55), Loss rate = 45% (P_loss = 0.45).
        2 Win/Loss Ratio = 55 ÷ 45 = 1.22.
        3 Profit Factor = (55 × 200) ÷ (45 × 150) = 11,000 ÷ 6,750 = 1.63.
        4 Expected Value per trade = (0.55 × 200) - (0.45 × 150) = 110 - 67.50 = +42.50.
        ✓ Profit Factor is 1.63 | Expected Value = +42.50/trade
Input 3 Sales: 18 deals won, 32 lost, 10 pending
        1 Resolved deals = 18 won + 32 lost = 50 total decided deals.
        2 Win/Loss Ratio = 18 ÷ 32 = 0.5625.
        3 Close Rate on decided deals = (18 ÷ 50) × 100% = 36.0%.
        ✓ Win/Loss Ratio is 0.56 (Close Rate = 36.0%)

How do I calculate my win/loss ratio? ▼

Win/Loss Ratio = Total Wins ÷ Total Losses. If you have 75 wins and 50 losses, your ratio is 1.50 (or 3:2). If you have 30 wins and 30 losses, your ratio is 1.0 (even record). A ratio above 1.0 means more wins than losses.

        What is a good win/loss ratio? ▼

It depends entirely on context. In major league baseball, 60% (1.5:1) is excellent. In casual gaming, 60% might be average. In day trading, 50% with a 2:1 reward-to-risk ratio is profitable. In sales, close rates of 20-30% are typical for complex B2B sales. Compare to your specific domain's benchmarks.

What is the difference between win rate and win/loss ratio? ▼

Win rate = Wins ÷ Total Games × 100 (a percentage). Win/loss ratio = Wins ÷ Losses (a ratio). With 60 wins and 40 losses: win rate = 60%, win/loss ratio = 1.5. Win rate accounts for total games; ratio only compares wins to losses directly.

How many games do I need for a reliable win rate? ▼

At least 30-50 outcomes for basic reliability, 100+ for moderate confidence, and 200+ for high statistical significance. With fewer than 30 games, a few lucky or unlucky results heavily skew the percentage. The larger the sample, the more stable and reliable the win rate becomes.

Can my win/loss ratio be negative? ▼

No. Wins and losses are non-negative numbers, so the ratio is always 0 or positive. A ratio of 0 means zero wins (0/N = 0). With zero losses, the ratio is technically undefined (division by zero) — most systems display it as the number of wins or infinity.

How do I account for ties in my win rate? ▼

Three common approaches: (1) Exclude ties and calculate only from decisive results. (2) Count each tie as 0.5 wins and 0.5 losses. (3) Use a points system (win=2, tie=1, loss=0). The method depends on your sport/activity's conventions. Specify which method you use for consistency.

What win rate do I need to break even in trading? ▼

It depends on your reward-to-risk ratio. With 1:1 risk-reward, you need 50% win rate to break even. With 2:1 (average win is twice average loss), you only need 33.3%. With 3:1, you need 25%. The formula: Break-even win rate = 1 ÷ (1 + Reward/Risk ratio).

How does win rate differ across sports? ▼

NBA: league average is 50% (41-41), elite teams reach 73% (60-22). NFL: 50% average, elite 75% (12-4). MLB: 50% average, elite 60% (97-65). Tennis grand slam champions often have 80%+ career win rates. Chess grandmasters typically maintain 60-70% against all rated opponents.

Should I track win rate by opponent or overall? ▼

Both. Overall win rate gives the big picture, but opponent-specific rates reveal matchup advantages and weaknesses. In sports, you might dominate weaker opponents (85%) but struggle against top teams (35%). This detail is hidden in the overall average (60%).

How do professional traders evaluate win/loss ratios? ▼

Professional traders evaluate win rate alongside average win size (R-multiple). The profit factor = (Win Rate × Avg Win) ÷ (Loss Rate × Avg Loss). A profit factor above 1.0 is profitable. Many successful traders have 40-50% win rates but average wins that are 2-3× larger than average losses.

What is the Kelly Criterion and how does it relate to win rate? ▼

The Kelly Criterion calculates the optimal position size based on your win rate and payoff ratio: Kelly % = Win Rate − (Loss Rate ÷ Payoff Ratio). With 55% win rate and 1.5:1 payoff: Kelly = 0.55 − (0.45/1.5) = 0.25 (bet 25% of bankroll). It maximizes long-term growth rate but requires accurate win rate data.

        Ketahui Mengenai Nisbah

        Bagaimanakah saya menyelesaikan perkadaran?

        Bagaimanakah saya memudahkan nisbah?

Nisbah A : B membandingkan dua kuantiti antara satu sama lain (bahagian-ke-bahagian), manakala pecahan A/B biasanya mewakili hubungan bahagian-ke-keseluruhan.
